Counter-Strike 2 - WEL Season Report (WEL #8)
The S.E.A. Dragons entered Welsh Esports League #8 with a clear aim: put in a strong showing and see whether the squad could compete at the top end of Welsh CS2. What actually happened was far better, an unbeaten group stage run, two sharp playoff performances, and a championship won after a proper test in the final.
Group Stage – Perfect Across All Three Matches
Group stage matches were single-map fixtures, so every round mattered — and the Dragons handled each one with confidence.
Round 1 – vs SL (13–1)
The Dragons opened the season with a clinical 13–1 win on Ancient. Fast starts, well-timed utility, and almost no room given to SL Wales. It set the tone for what the group stage would become.
Round 2 – vs Dragons RFC Esports (13–4)
The second match was steadier and more controlled. A 13–4 win showed maturity and discipline, with the Dragons never really allowing any momentum to build on the other side.
Round 3 – vs GOATS (13–0)
A flawless result — literally. The Dragons delivered a 13–0 sweep, one of the standout scorelines of the entire league. Clean, focused, and ruthless throughout.
Group stage summary:
3–0, +34 round differential, zero signs of slowing down.

Semi-Final – vs Rejects (2–0, Best of 3)
The playoffs switched to a best-of-3 format. The Rejects are known for experience and structure, but the Dragons didn't give them a chance to settle.
Two controlled maps, steady calling, and a comfortable 2–0 secured a place in the final.
Grand Final – vs Pit Ponies (2–1, Best of 3)
This final was the first genuine challenge all season.
The Dragons started strongly, but a mid-series slip let the Pit Ponies level the score at 1–1, handing us our first dropped map of the season. A few small mistakes crept in and momentum swung their way briefly.
The response was the important part.
In the decider on de_cache, the Dragons slowed things down, tightened spacing, and controlled the mid-rounds far better. Once the nerves settled, the team pulled ahead and closed the series 2–1 to win the WEL #8 title.
A proper final, and a deserved championship.

Reflections
The Dragons didn't just win, they built something.
The group stage showed the team's ceiling, and the final showed their character. Even when the perfect run was broken, they adapted and finished the job.
Head of Performance Dylan Carpenter:
"The lads handled the final exactly how you'd want, they reset, fixed the small things, and closed it out properly."
Looking Forward
With a first CS2 title secured, the next steps are simple: keep the roster together, sharpen the map pool, and build on what this season started.
Team Principal Patryk Białowąs:
"A fully deserved win. Clean groups, a fight in the final, and a great foundation for future seasons."
