Welsh Esports League #10 - Chess Season Round-Up

03/02/2026

S.E.A. Dragons' Chess campaign in Welsh Esports League Season 10 once again proved to be one of the club's most consistent performances, with CM Bullenov leading the Dragons through another strong run.

The season began with a solid Group B performance, where Bullenov secured three wins from four matches to finish second overall and progress to the Premiership elimination bracket.

Group Stage Results:
Round 1 – S.E.A. Dragons 2–1 Artists
Round 2 – S.E.A. Dragons 4–0 Tribal Esports
Round 4 – S.E.A. Dragons 4–0 Goats
Round 5 – S.E.A. Dragons 1–2 Dragons RFC

That result set up a semi-final clash with Pit Ponies' Meereen, one of the strongest players in the competition. In a tightly contested match played over eight blitz games, Bullenov staged a late comeback to secure the victory and send the Dragons to their second consecutive WEL Chess Final.

Unfortunately, Bullenov was unavailable for the final itself, with IM Pedrada88 stepping in as an emergency substituteagainst CM Ifanrj of The Artists. The match proved to be one of the closest of the season, going the full distance before Ifanrj eventually secured the title.

Despite the narrow defeat, S.E.A. Dragons finished the season 2nd overall in the Chess standings, contributing valuable points towards the club's successful Welsh Esports League Club Championship campaign.
